Opportunites To Not Remember Anything, Eat Kebabs And Make Pie

Thursday, November 12: For their monthly happy hour, the Going Out Gurus are heading to the one of the sleaziest places in the District, Russia House. Get ready to drink a lot of vodka, and to eat free food, that is, if there’s still any available. [Going Out Gurus Happy Hour]

  • Friday, November 13: Heard of the Metromix DC? Well, it’s an entertainment guide, and it’s celebrating its first anniversary of telling people what to do and where to go with a bar tour and bus party. It doesn’t get better than this. [Metromix]
  • Saturday, November 14: No Thanksgiving is complete without a pie, and that shit better be homemade if you want your meal to be moderately memorable. Art and Soul is hosting a pie-making class for $40, and the cost includes your very own baby pie. [Art and Soul]
  • Tuesday, November 17: A pre-Thanksgiving treat: More tequila than you’ll know what to do with. Zengo is hosting a four-course tequila themed dinner next Tuesday. Cost is $45. [Zengo]
  • Food To Look Forward To: DC will soon be home to a new kebab place, the Beirut-based Kababji Grill. It’s better than all the other Kebab places in town because the food will taste as if your mom made it, if you mom is Lebanese and has a knack for making tasty meat that is. [Kababji Grill]

Russia House, I thought that was by le Carré. Do you drink or get shots at Checkpoint Charlie?

  2. Why do the arabs have a monopoly on making meat tasty? They really put the whole American BBQ thing to shame. Plus, if I can get an apple flavored shisha afterwards, I’d be a very happy man.

  3. Russia House has been described as “a little slice of the Soviet Union right in our nation’s capital.” The Brezhnev-era Soviet Union, that is.

Expect the free food to last about as long as a package of toilet paper on the shelves of G.U.M.

  4. Mahousu: better than the Stalin-era Soviet Union …
